Catfishing Lake Tawakoni

Lake Tawakoni is 57 square miles making it the 85 largest lakes in the USA!  This Famous East Texas impoundment is only 80 miles east of DFW Airport and boasts a huge population of Catfish, Striped Bass, Bass, Crappie, and White Bass!  We target Blue Catfish from November to March, then move on to Hybrid Striper for the Spring and Summer.  Most anglers turn their attention to Blue Catfish during the winter on Lake Tawakoni!  These Monster Blue Cats start to focus on the big schools of shad that roam the flats all winter long, and Anglers become obsessed with 40 plus pound giants!  We drift fish with Carolina rigs in water from 10 feet to 25 feet most of the winter!  Finding the Big Gizzard Shad can be more difficult than catching Big Blue Catfish! You can increase your odds by 100% by hiring a quality Lake Tawakoni Fishing Guide!

A Day on Lake Tawakoni with Guide James Evans

We like to break down what a typical day fishing Lake Tawakoni with guide James Evans.  We will meet around 6 AM at our boat dock and load up your gear.  We will have a boat ride to our first spot which could be 10 minutes or 25 minutes depending on where the fish are holding.  We usually drift for Trophy Blue Catfish, so I will deploy drift socks to slow the boat, and I will rig up the catfish rods.  We will make a drift and hopefully catch Blue Catfish, if not we are off to spot number two.  We will continue to search spots until we find fish that want to eat.  Some days we make one stop and catch all we can handle, other days it’s not so easy. Once my clients have had enough or we have reached our legal limit, we will motor back!

Customer Satisfaction

Once we return to the boat stall I will fillet your catch, pack them in a heavy zip-lock bag and we can relax and discuss a future trip.  Our goal is to create repeat business and make sure our clients have a great time catching fish on Lake Tawakoni.  We can accommodate two fishing buddies, a group of workers, or a large corporate outing.  If work and life have you wound up and stressed, take a break with the Best Lake Tawakoni Fishing Guide James Evans today!  Check out our Facebook page for more fishing pictures.  Follow Rates for more information
